Devis Hole - The last one of 2011 11.12.11

Wellington Vein had been proved across the heads of devis and Glead gills Hushes by a series of whim shafts in the late 18th century. by the early 1820s however a level was needed to drain the workings. this was Devis Hole Level. The mine was driven by Robinson & Whitelock co.

The level intersects several natural caves, which can only be accessed via the mine. This Mine is among the final few mines which are still exactly as the miners left it!
